My Favorite Essential Oil Blends

I just love good essential oil blend recipes! Don’t you? While attending The Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, MN I learned how to use and blend oils. I love essential oils and their amazing properties. The oil blend recipes below are some my favorites.

If you do your research you can find a reputable company that sells amazing oils and blends. My favorites include my local health food shop Terry’s Health and Rose Mountain Herbs. I even buy from Now when I’m looking for something basic like Lavender or Orange.

My favorite essential oil blend recipes are simple. And have easy to find oils.

The recipes below are all safe to use in a diffuser. You can also use them in or in a 2 oz. carrier oil base, and apply topically. Simple carrier oils for all skin types include: Grape-seed oil , Sweet almond oil, or Jojoba oil. 

Essential oils used in the recipes and their aromatherapy benefits:

Clary Sage: Helps with relaxation and eases muscle pain. It is thought to battle exhaustion and mild depression. Clary sage also used to help balance hormones and is great for menopause, menstrual problems, and PMS.

Grapefruit*: Grapefruit is rejuvenating, refreshing, and invigorating. This citrus oil has incredible antioxidant properties.

Bergamot*: This distinct citrus oil is part of the flavor profile of Earl Grey tea. Bergamot can reduce feelings of anxiety and fatigue. It is also helpful for relieving pain and inflammation as it contains anti-inflammatory properties.

Basil-Basil is good for concentration, headaches, and memory enhancement. Basil is a great mood enhancer and combats feelings of sadness and fatigue.

Rosemary- Rosemary is versatile oil! It is great for respiratory problems, muscle pain, migraines, PMS, memory enhancement, and alertness.

Sweet Orange*: Sweet Orange is a great mood booster. It is also uplifting and refreshing. Sweet Orange has been used to help with stress relief, and to improve alertness. Sweet Orange has incredible antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Lavender– Lavender is commonly used for calming anxiety and depression symptoms. It promotes feelings of relaxation and aids in a restful nights sleep. Lavender is calming, relaxing, and soothing. 

Sandalwood: Sandalwood comes from the roots and wood of the East Indian sandalwood tree. This oil can help reduce anxiety and increase alertness. Sandalwood has been tested in various studies to show multiple benefits for the skin.

PMS and Hormone Support Blend:

7 drops Clary sage 

7 drops Grapefruit 

Wake Up and Concentrate Blend:

5 drops Bergamot 

5 drops Grapefruit 

3 drops of Basil 

3 drops of Rosemary 

Time to Relax Blend:

7 drops Sweet orange 

5 drops Lavender 

3 drops Sandalwood

How to Get the Smoothest Legs Ever

Is there anything worse than dry, itchy legs? It’s  the worst! But, don’t  despair, throw your hands up in defeat, and cover those neglected gams with pants for the rest of your life. I’m going to share with you how I get the softest smoothest legs ever

My Former Life…

In the fall of 2001 I completed the Esthiology Science program from The Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, MN. I embarked into the skincare world at the tender age of 19; and, spent the next 16 years of my life working in spas and building my own organic skincare line. I loved it. 

These days my love of skin is more of a hobby than a profession. However helping someone love the skin they are in continues to be a passion of mine and I still have my Etsy Shop, Raychel Ann Beauty.

And soft smooth skin is a goal. I want my legs to look amazing even in my twilight years. Eat your heart out Tina Turner.

Here’s how to get the smoothest legs ever:

#1- Drink More Water

I don’t know if you know this but dry itchy skin is a sign your skin is not getting enough moisture. You can slather lotion on those scratchy legs until the cows come home but you will get no where if you don’t drink enough water. You must solve this problem from the inside out. Hydrated skin is plump and soft and ages beautifully.

#2- Exfoliate

Exfoliate often if you want the softest smoothest legs possible. I like to exfoliate 3 times a week! Especially when the seasons change and I tend to be more dry. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells that are acting as a barrier and preventing anything from penetrating your skin.

You can layer and layer creams and lotions in hopes of finding relief, but it will do nothing but drain your pocket book if you don’t exfoliate.

#3- Use Harry’s Razors for the smoothest legs ever.

Yes they are men’s razors. It doesn’t matter. Use them. They are amazing. Like my fiancé says… Why use a more expensive women’s razor when you can use a cheaper men’s razor that works better?

#4- Body Oil

I traded my traditional lotion for a body oil way before body oils were cool. They hydrate the skin beautifully and mimic the natural oils in our skin better than creams and lotions. My favorite blends use one or more of these base oils: Avocado oil, grape seed oil, almond oil, jojoba oil, and coconut oil. I dare you to toss that lotion and splurge on a body oil that soothes your skin and your senses. Here is the first body oil I ever fell in love with: Beautifying Composition Oil 

Soft smooth legs are within your reach! A few tweaks to your skincare regimen and you will have glowing gams in no time!
